Soliloquy for a Shore-line brings together a team of four Cornwall and Devon-based artists from varied disciplines to collaborate for the first time.

Originally inspired by the female soliloquies and coastal themes present in the literary work of Virginia Woolf, the material weaves poetic connections between a sense of self, body and place, with specific connection to the landscape ofCornwall. In a series of moving soliloquy, a woman dialogues with herself and her environment allowing the audience to witness shifting states between interior and exterior worlds. Through textual imagery and mythic themes of immersion the work evokes how embodied memory informs our personal mythologies, which often go unwritten.

Soliloquy for a Shore-line is an experimental and thought-provoking exploration of the themes within a non-linear narrative.The installation will appeal not only to people interested in dance, but to those who like sound art, film/video, visual art, literature, performance art, multi-discipline installations, or people who have an interest in any of the themes present in the work. Saffy Setohy trained at Laban, gaining a First Class BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance Theatre in 2007. Since then she has been performing, making and teaching with a particular interest in improvisation. Saffy’s last major choreographic work Towards Stillness (2009) was presented in Europe and the UK (Arnolfini, Salisbury Arts Centre). She is currently an ‘emerging artist in residence’ at the Southbank Centre, and lectures at Plymouth University and University College Falmouth.

Alicia Grace has a First Class honours degree in Theatre with Arts Management, and an
 MA in Arts and Ecology with Distinction (AHRC), both from Dartington College of Arts.  Alicia is a performance artist, writer and dramaturg specialising in socially engaged, feminist and improvisatory practices. Throughout 2011/12 she is working as a mentor for the Dance South West TRI scheme, and as a writer for the Word Quest project, commissioned by Aune Head arts to write on the hidden poetics of Devon.

Nick Mott is a sound artist and illustrator. Nick was part of the internationally successful band Volcano the Bear, and for the last couple of years has been developing an experimental solo practice. Nick has a BA in illustration from University College Falmouth, and is now a lecturer there in the subject.

Charlotte Jackman is a visual artist with a socially engaged practice. She works across various media including video, photography and sculpture. She graduated in 2011 from University College Falmouth with a BA Hons In Fine Art. Her work has been presented in many group exhibitions across the UK and in India, most recently as part of the Mother Tongue exhibition in the Vyner Street Gallery, London.
